Career opportunity: Environmental Equipment Sales Professionals—Sydney & Melbourne

Job Summary:

Vermeer Equipment Holdings is seeking an energetic sales professional to join our Environmental Sales Team in Melbourne and Sydney. The successful applicant will have a proven track record in equipment sales, preferably in the tree care, wood waste processing, land clearing or organic recycling equipment markets.

You must be self-motivated, well presented, customer focused with a strong desire to succeed, and have the ability to manage a specific geographic territory which will require some travel. Remuneration is by salary, generous commission and a vehicle allowance is provided.

Role responsibilities:

  • Increase market share and profitability of Vermeer products within the geographic territory.
  • Develop relationships and network at all levels of the industry. Know the market; where future work will be done, where it is currently being done and by whom. Be recognised as a solution provider and a wealth of expertise for our customers. Be across every deal.
  • Create opportunities by evaluating customer fleets and techniques and industry best-practice, to proactively propose better solutions.
  • Meet minimum weekly quotas regarding meetings with customers/prospects and other metrics relating to prospecting and customer management activities
  • Develop equipment packages and pre-qualify customers. Prepare and present professional sales proposals every time. Negotiate each transaction effectively.
  • Schedule and perform product demonstrations and technical presentations effectively.
  • Deliver all new machines and provide onsite hand-overs and operator training. Regularly follow up with customer’s deliveries to insure they remain fully trained, well supported and highly satisfied with our products and services.
  • Communicate regularly with the sales manager and other stakeholders to share information on activity within your territory.
  • Regularly maintain CRM database records to ensure that they accurately represent current sales opportunities, as well as contact information and correspondence with customers and prospects, all all times.
  • Be an active and highly visible participant in industry groups and events and keep abreast of competitive activity and competitive products.
  • Always seek additional sales, parts and service opportunities for company and report those prospects to the appropriate parties.
  • Provide regular reports to the sales manager and maintain expense accounts.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals.
  • Conduct yourself in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of Vermeer Equipment Holdings.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Essential attributes:

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Prior sales experience and/or training.
  • Good understanding of local market conditions.
  • Experience of working with industry members of a similar nature.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail with regards to maintaining quality standards.
