Patent-pending Yellow Jacket Cutting System Standard on Most Vermeer Models
The new Vermeer Yellow Jacket cutting system is designed to provide faster, easier serviceability and maintenance, and to extend both tooth and pocket life. With the patent-pending system, maintenance is easier because the tooth is indexable. The operator simply loosens one nut and rotates the tooth for a like new cutting surface.
The universal tooth accomodates all cutting positions on Vermeer stump cutters equiped with this system. Because only one tooth is needed for all cutting / pocket positions, there is no need to carry additional inventory. Depending on wear, teeth may be moved on the wheel.
With two cutting edges on each tooth, the tooth and pocket are designed so that the second edge is protected and clear of the primary wear area while cutting with the first edge. When the tooth is indexed to the second position, the opposite edge provides a like new cutting service for extended tooth life. This system eliminates the need to take the unit to the shop for tooth replacement. By redesigning the pocket to provide more clearance, the system limits pocket rubbing that can cause power loss and stump cutter vibration, and it helps extend pocket life. The distance from the pocket bolt to the cutter tip is shorter than that of competitive models, and this design helps reduce shear stress on pocket bolts.
Unlike competitive brands, the Vermeer Yellow Jacket system requires only three pocket styles and one tooth style to complete a cutter wheel set-up. The reversible bidirectional pocket is designed so the pocket can be used on either side of the cutter wheel. The pocket can be reversed to use the second tooth mounting service should the primary service become worn or damaged.
The Vermeer Yellow Jacket cutting system is currently a standard feature in the USA on all Vermeer stump cutters except the two smallest models on the line - the SC90 and the SC130.
