Ryan's Mulching and their Vermeer HG6000TX Horizontal Grinder

Flexibility and the capacity to take on challenging jobs, backed by over a decade of experience, stand behind a business philosophy to ‘make it happen’.

Incorporated in early 2000 to service a commercial opportunity in the green waste recycling industry, Ryans Mulching’s foundation fleet included a Vermeer TG400 Tub Grinder, a Bobcat and a truck. The family owned and operated business headed by Darren Ryan has since grown to service central Australia, the east coast (and “anywhere the work is”) with a yard of well-maintained earthmoving equipment, and their most recent investment – the HG6000TX Horizontal Grinder.

“Not many other machines could have done it. It gets around hills and steep gradients like nothing else.”

Ryan manages the Logan Village (Queensland) based company with his partner Kate and two sons. He attributes much of the business success to the experience and dedication of key staff that are willing to put in extra hours when required, care about the customer, and care for the machines. Testament to this, most of their clients are acquired through word of mouth, repeat business and ‘chance meetings’ on job sites.

Darren and his committed team of 13 employees take pride in providing consistent customer satisfaction and an environmentally conscious solution by using state-of-the-art equipment, which they fastidiously service above and beyond industry standards. The HG6000TX has proven to be a valuable investment, particularly for challenging terrain.

“Working on a very steep gradient with rocky ground and confined area, the [HG6000TX] handled the conditions with ease,” says Ryan. “Not many other machines could have done it. It gets around hills and steep gradients like nothing else.”

Impressed with the compelling life cost and return on investment figures provided by Vermeer’s National Sales Manager for Environmental Equipment, Craig Baillie, Ryan went on to test the machine against competitor solutions and was pleased with how it handled, particularly in vegetation like palm – notorious for causing clogging. Ryan states that one of the greatest benefits, in line with the company philosophy to always be open and available to new work, is the relatively compact dimensions of the machine for ease of transport.

“The machine width of 2.5 metres means it can be moved on the road any time,” Ryan explains, “and we’ve been impressed with the productivity of the machine for its size.”

Other productivity features of the HG6000TX such as the radiator purge fan “used every five minutes on some jobs”, the ease of changing screens, and Vermeer’s robust design chip drum rounds off their list of noted benefits to answer the company goal of “make it happen”.
